Competition entry for an expansion to Letchworth Garden City.

 

The idea promotes greater shared green spaces for growing food, exercise and social gathering.  Roads become meadows; walkable, rideable pathways through green vistas enhancing tranquillity in the city.  Mixed typologies of houses and flats are densely arranged around access roads to ensure all dwellings have access and aspect onto public gardens and parkland, maximising interaction with nature.

 

Splayed and cranked buildings create variety in the garden street scene, making places recognisable and unique.
