Historic gatehouses and outbuildings became the precedent for a contemporary workshop sited in front of an Edwardian house in Surrey.

 

The building nestles within the existing brick boundary walls and replicates the steep pitched gable form.  While the proposal is subservient to the main building, the internal space is generous and top lit with natural light.
